Missouri teen dies in car accident; 2 others hospitalize

A mere moment of negligent driving is all it may take for a fatal accident to occur. These accidents can be made more severe when the occupants of the vehicle are not properly restrained. In a recent car accident in Missouri, one teenage boy is dead and two remain in the hospital after they were involved in a single vehicle accident in the early morning.

According to Missouri police officials, the accident occurred just after midnight. One of the teenagers, identified as being 16 years old, was driving a pickup truck when he is alleged to have lost control. His truck proceeded to travel off the road and hit a utility pole and culvert. The impact caused the two passengers to be ejected from the truck.

Meanwhile, the driver, who police have stated was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident by the country coroner. One of the passengers was airlifted to a local hospital, while the other was driven by ambulance to another hospital. Their conditions are currently unknown.

It is never easy to come to terms with the loss of young lives as a result of a car accident. However, despite the tragic circumstances of such accidents, these types of tragedies continue to occur regularly along Missouri roads. Although the most severe toll to date is being endured by the family of the deceased driver, the passengers sustained potentially life threatening injuries and may endure a long road to recovery. Although there will be no winners arising from these tragic circumstances, the filing of a civil suit against the driver's estate may allow the victims to recover monetary damages for the injuries sustained. In such a claim, it will be necessary to prove the driver was negligent in a manner that caused or contributed to the serious injuries of the passengers.
