Truck accident kills patron who was eating in Missouri diner

Despite being off the road and inside a building, individuals may still not be out of harm's way when it comes to an automobile accident. Those in buildings near busy Missouri roadways can, without warning, be struck by a vehicle if there is an accident that causes the vehicle to veer off the road. In a recent case, a truck accident resulted in the death of one individual and injured at least three others when the truck crashed into a diner.

The accident transpired around 5 p.m. At that time, police have stated that a car pulled into the pathway of an oncoming semi-truck. The truck apparently attempted to avoid the car but was unable to do so. The truck proceeded to hit the car and then plowed into the diner that had several individuals inside.

One man, identified as being 54 years old, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. It has been reported that three others also sustained injuries, two of which are believed to have been serious. Police have not released the names of the car or truck driver, and it is unclear whether either of them sustained any injuries.

It appears from the evidence disclosed thus far, that this truck accident was a result of a chain-reaction crash that unfortunately put not only the drivers of the vehicles at risk, but also innocent bystanders who were merely at the wrong place at the wrong time. As police continue to investigate the accident, more information may be discovered that could lead the victims and their families to pursue lawsuits seeking financial reimbursement for their injuries. For the deceased man's family, this could include the filing of a wrongful death action in a Missouri civil court based on evidence of negligence that is deemed to have caused or contributed to the fatality.
