Teenager dies, others injured in Missouri car accident

Being stopped and waiting to make a turn can be a vulnerable position in which to be for any driver. When that position results in inadvertently being the victim of a car accident, Missouri drivers can suffer injuries or worse, as can their passengers. A recent accident in Missouri led to injuries for one innocent driver and the death of a teen passenger in the vehicle that caused the car accident.

The accident occurred on a Thursday afternoon as a 55-year-old woman was waiting to turn. She was struck from behind by a pickup truck. That truck was driven by a 19-year-old man and had a 19-year-old female passenger inside. After striking the 55-year-old woman's vehicle, the pickup truck crossed the roadway and hit another vehicle, a Freightliner.

The 19-year-old pickup truck passenger died in the car accident. The 55-year-old woman in the car that was rear-ended suffered serious injuries and was transported for medical care of those injuries. The Freightliner driver was uninjured in the multi-vehicle accident.

The woman who suffered injuries on the Missouri roadway may be able to pursue a personal injury suit as a means of recovering damages to pay for medical treatment she received or other monetary losses. The family of the teen who died as a passenger may also have legal recourse to seek damages against the driver who caused the car accident. In that case, the family may recover damages to pay for funeral expenses incurred as a result of the death of the teenager.
