Hit-and-run car accident in Missouri takes woman's life

When a young woman crossed a bridge on foot on a recent Friday, she may have had no indication she was about to become embroiled in a car accident. Unfortunately, the 23-year-old woman was killed on the Missouri bridge. The car that hit her left the scene and police are still on the hunt for the hit-and-run car accident driver.

As the woman was making her way across the bridge, a car came along that had been speeding away from the police. She was struck as the car sped by. Police have dash-cam video of the car and the officer reportedly stopped pursing the speeding vehicle.

Police have said the car was a Monte Carlo with a white hood. They managed to find the vehicle, as it was abandoned in St. Louis. Even though the incident is still under investigation, the police said they expect to make an arrest soon.

When a car accident of this nature causes the death of a loved one, families may be left reeling from the tragic and unexpected loss. While any criminal proceedings may help that family find some sort of closure regarding the deadly crash, that family may also find other legal options to be helpful as they try to move forward from the incident. A wrongful death suit filed in a Missouri civil court may help that family recoup some of the financial losses they may have suffered as they struggle to deal with the emotional ramifications of the deadly hit-and-run car accident.
