Car accident in Missouri takes woman's life, injures another

A passenger in a vehicle has recently lost her life after being involved in a collision. The driver of the car in which she was riding was injured in the three-vehicle car accident. The crash happened on a Missouri interstate on a Wednesday morning in May.

The incident unfolded around 8 a.m. It began when a tanker truck hit a Nissan SUV as both were headed south. This caused the Nissan to hit another SUV that was headed in the same direction. Then, the tanker truck hit the other SUV, which caused it to be pushed into the median of the road.

The second SUV rolled over and then stopped on the shoulder of the northbound lane. The driver and passenger inside were thrown from the vehicle. Both of them were transported to an area hospital for treatment of the injuries they sustained. The driver has injuries listed as critical; however, the passenger died as a result of the injuries she sustained.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol is investigating this car accident. Once an investigation is complete, there may be a certain amount of liability placed on those deemed responsible. If any of the other drivers involved are found to be liable for the injuries sustained and the death of the SUV's passenger, any injured parties and the family of the victim who died may be able to pursue actions in a Missouri civil court. If successful, those parties may garner monetary damages, which could prove useful if the victims and the family of the deceased victim are saddled with financial difficulties resulting from the car accident.
