Dangerous road conditions cause of Columbia pedestrian injury?

Dangerous road conditions in and around Columbia, Missouri, can contribute to motor vehicle accidents that cause serious injury and sometimes even death. An intersection or stretch of road is sometimes a factor, and when a negligent driver is added to the mix, the combination can be lethal.

Accidents causing serious injury can happen in the time it takes to cross a street and before a victim even discovers the dangerous road conditions that exist.

On the evening of Aug. 17 at about 5:15, a pedestrian was struck by a car as she attempted to cross the road at the corner of 10th and Cherry Streets in front of Harpo's. Stunned and sitting in the roadway holding her head, the women waited for paramedics who soon rushed her to Boone Hospital Center.

The woman's identity or the full extent of her injuries was not immediately released. An observer indicated the intersection was considered dangerous, adding that he had "almost been hit here many times." There is a significant amount of traffic coming from Broadway, combined with students and children trying to cross the street, the locals said.

When dangerous road conditions may have contributed to an accident, it is important to learn the nature and extent of previous accidents in the same location. It may also help to discover if the site of an accident has been part of any public debate seeking an upgrade or alteration of traffic flow to improve safety.

Individuals who are seriously injured have a legal right in Missouri to recover monetary damages against any negligent party causing or contributing to an accident. In the event of a fatal accident, the victim's family has the same right to recovery.

An attorney who is well versed in handling claims of personal injury and knowledgeable about accidents involving dangerous road conditions may provide guidance and support to those looking to hold wrongdoers accountable for the injuries they caused.
