6-vehicle car accident injures Columbia man

A Columbia man sustained moderate injuries in a recent six-vehicle crash. The Columbia man was slowing down for traffic when another car rear-ended him. That ended up causing a chain reaction, leading to the multiple-car accident.

The car accident occurred on a recent Sunday on eastbound Interstate 70 at 10:47 a.m. There was reportedly already another accident on the road, for which traffic was slowing down. As the 25-year-old Columbia man slowed his vehicle, another car driven by a 50-year-old man hit him. That in turn caused the Chevrolet to strike a third vehicle driven by a 52-year-old woman.

Three other vehicles were involved in the accident, but it appears the only other moderate injuries sustained were that of an 18-year-old. The 18-year-old was a passenger in a car that had attempted to avoid the other cars, but unfortunately ending up strike another car. Both the 18-year-old and the Columbia man were taken to University Hospital for their injuries.

As many in Columbia and across Missouri know all too well, being in a car accident is often a frightening experience. While some are lucky enough to walk away unscathed, others -- like the two men in this case -- are not so fortunate. Although reports indicate that their injuries are moderate, they may still require medical treatment, which can be costly. Because of this, they may also need to take time off of work to recover, something that can result in lost wages.

Taking these financial hits can be difficult for anyone, especially those who do not have extra money lying around. If an accident was caused by another person's negligence, it may be possible for injured victims to obtain compensation for damages incurred. In such a situation, seeking experienced legal advice may be wise.
