Drunk driver possibly caused car accident

In Boone County and elsewhere in Missouri, a car accident can happen in the blink of an eye. That may have been the case in a recent accident in Macon, Missouri, that was allegedly caused by a drunk driver. The impact of the collision caused serious injuries to the drunk driver, and the extent of the injuries suffered by the driver of the second vehicle were not available.

The accident took place in mid-November at around 3:30 p.m. The 67-year-old driver of a 2000 Sierra pickup truck was traveling northbound on U.S. Highway 63 near the town of Excello when he tried to make a left-hand turn. That turn sent him into the path of a 2004 Chevrolet Impala driven by a 20-year-old male. Fortunately, both men were wearing seat belts.

The impact of the collision caused the pickup truck to overturn, causing injuries severe enough to the 67-year-old man that he had to be flown to a hospital in Columbia. Nonetheless, police have charged him with driving while intoxicated. If true, then he may be considered the at-fault driver for the accident, and may then have to compensate the 20-year-old driver for whatever injuries he may have suffered.

In this case, the driver who was hit could benefit from meeting with an experienced personal injury attorney. In the past, residents from Boone and across Missouri have benefited from the advice of an attorney after suffering personal injuries in a car accident. When a victim suffers injuries caused by the negligent or reckless conduct of another and through no fault of their own, he or she deserves compensation.
