Cause of fatal truck accident in Missouri is not clear

An accident involving a car and a truck has resulted in two fatalities. The truck accident occurred when a car hit the back of the truck as the two vehicles traveled down the highway. The two men, who died as a result of the accident, were believed to be from the St. Louis, Missouri area.

Police say the accident happened when the 28-year-old driver of the car lost control and left the traveled portion of the road. The driver was able to navigate the car back on the road, but the car then proceeded to strike the back of the truck. Police have not indicated at this time whether they believe speed played a factor in the crash.

The truck driver was not harmed in the collision. Police have not released the identity of the truck driver, nor have they released the company for whom the truck driver was working. It is also unclear whether police have completed their investigation or whether further investigation measures, such as an accident reconstruction, will be necessary for them to bring their inquiry to a final conclusion.

The details released to date appear to provide scant further details regarding the cause of this fatal truck accident. However, this may simply mean that the police have been unable to conclude their investigation as of the date of the news release. If this is the case, more details may be released in the future that could address the many questions surrounding this crash. The families of the deceased Missouri men will likely assess whether a wrongful death claim is appropriate under state law and, if so, against which party or parties to the tragedy. When a fatality occurs due to the negligent or intentional acts of another, Missouri law provides for the right of surviving family to pursue claims for monetary damages that result.
