Missouri woman killed in car accident, 3 others hospitalized

Drivers of vehicles involved in accidents are some of the most susceptible to sustaining serious injuries. However, despite their risk and the injuries they may sustain in a car accident, they may still be held responsible for injuries that were sustained by the passengers in the vehicle if it is determined that the driver was negligent. In a recent tragic Missouri car accident, the driver was killed and three others were sent to the hospital after they were involved in an early morning collision with another vehicle.

Police say the accident occurred at 2 a.m. At that time, a 26-year-old woman and three passengers were driving down the highway when the woman went off the road and hit a car that was parked on the road shoulder. The driver was transported to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead a little over an hour after the accident. Police indicated that the woman was not wearing a seat belt.

Meanwhile, a 26-year-old male passenger suffered serious injuries and was taken to a hospital. The two other passengers suffered moderate injuries and were also treated at a hospital.

It remains unclear at this time exactly what caused this fatal car accident. Missouri Police have not released any further details regarding the investigation, and it is unclear when they will issue a final report, which may shed further light on the circumstances surrounding the accident. When these details are released the evidence may provide the victims of this accident with a basis to seek restitution through a civil claim, if it is documented that the driver breached a duty of reasonable care by losing control of the vehicle. A successfully pursued civil claim against the deceased driver's estate may allow the victims to recoup some of the damages they sustained.
