Truck accident seriously injures Missouri woman

Tractor-trailer drivers must use the utmost care and caution as they drive on roadways in our state and across the country. A crash between a semi and a smaller vehicle has potentially catastrophic consequences. This was recently proven when a Missouri woman sustained significant injuries in a truck accident that caused her to be thrown more than 100 feet from her vehicle.

The accident occurred around 7:30 p.m. and caused traffic back-ups on Interstate 44 for about four hours. According to reports, the semi was switching lanes as it headed west on I-44 in Springfield. As it changed lanes, it struck a Honda Accord carrying two occupants. After impact, the truck dragged the car for a short distance before the driver was ejected from the vehicle. She was not wearing a seat belt at the time the collision occurred.

The driver of the Honda was described as having significant injuries. Fortunately, her injuries are not disabling. She was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment. Her passenger and the driver of the tractor-trailer were not injured.

It is not reported whether the tractor-trailer driver faces any citations or criminal charges as a result of this truck accident. As the woman recovers from her injuries, she may wish to explore what options are available to her under the personal injury laws of Missouri. If she can provide sufficient evidence that the crash was caused by an act of negligence on the part of the truck driver, she may successfully litigate a civil claim. Any compensation she is awarded can help her pay for medical bills and other related expenses, as well as additional damages.
