Missouri car accident takes woman's life

Sitting at a red light in the middle of the afternoon is not a place or time someone may expect to be involved in a car crash. For one woman, these very circumstances led to her involvement in a car accident that proved to be deadly at a Missouri intersection. The victim was a well-known and beloved dance instructor, wife, competitive dancer and former professional cheerleader.

The accident occurred as she sat at an intersection and a car came along and sped through the intersection, causing an accident. There was a total of four cars involved in the crash. The driver who caused the accident then fled from the intersection with police in pursuit. He was caught and taken into custody blocks later.

The 31-year-old who was caused the accident was arrested for the incident. He faces charges of driving under the influence and involuntary manslaughter. It is unclear what led the police to believe he was under the influence or if any other drivers were injured in the car accident.

When a car accident such as this has resulted in the death of an innocent person who was simply stopped at a red light, the family of the victim may be able to pursue a civil claim against the driver who caused the accident. The family may be able to seek damages as part of a wrongful death suit. Any damages they may be awarded in a Missouri civil court may help the family deal with the financial repercussions of the accident that took the life of their loved one.
