Missouri man charged for hit-and-run accident

The loss of any loved ones will be emotionally difficult no matter the circumstances surrounding their death. The loss of children can be particularly difficult and can leave families struggling to understand and cope with the loss of someone taken too early in life. A recent hit-and-run accident in Missouri resulted in the death of a teenager and left his family searching for answers.

Recently in St. Louis County, a 17-year-old male was struck by a car. Exact details of the accident have not been released, but it was reported that the teen was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, even with medical care, he didn't survive his injuries. The driver apparently fled the scene of the accident without providing aid or calling for help.

The suspected driver was soon located, thanks to a witness that saw the license plate number of the vehicle involved. The 47-year-old male was arrested and has been charged with the incident. Charges against him include manslaughter and leaving the scene. He is currently being held on $445,000 bond. Court dates have not been reported.

The loss of a child in such a senseless manner can leave parents with a lot of questions. Thankfully, the driver believed to be responsible for this hit-and-run accident was located and is facing charges for his actions, which will -- hopefully -- provide some answers to their questions and possibly give them a sense of closure. The family may choose to file a wrongful death claim against the driver to help recover any financial damages that they have incurred due to the incident. If the driver is found liable for this event, a civil court in Missouri could award them monetary compensation for their loss.
