Truck accident seriously injures Missouri woman

Being passed by or passing a tractor-trailer truck can be an intimidating experience. However, when all parties safely maneuver their vehicles, mishaps are usually few and far between. Yet, a truck accident can still happen at any time and have devastating consequences due to the sheer size and weight of the big rigs. A recent Missouri truck accident left a car driver seriously injured.

A tractor-trailer operated by a 30-year-old man was headed east on a Missouri highway when the driver decided to change lanes. When he did, the front of his truck hit the rear of a Hyundai. The Hyundai then spun around and the front of the tractor-trailer hit the car again, sending it off the road and into a guardrail.

After this initial collision, the Hyundai, operated by a 46-year-old woman, went back onto the highway. This put it in the path of a Ford pickup truck. That truck then hit the car, and it left the highway again. The woman was transported to a medical facility and was said to have suffered serious injuries.

The woman who was injured in this truck accident may have cause to pursue civil action against the truck driver and the driver's employer. A truck accident can leave an injured party with mounting medical bills, lost wages and other damages. A successfully navigated civil action in a Missouri court may help victims get the compensation they need to deal with the financial aftermath of being involved in a truck accident. To prevail, it will be necessary to establish that the negligence of the truck driver caused or materially contributed to the accident and injuries that resulted.
