Missouri car accident takes passenger's life

When someone is a passenger in a car, they are essentially putting his or her life in someone else's hands. For some passengers, getting into the passenger seat can lead to devastating consequences. A recent Missouri car accident resulted in the passenger being killed.

The tragedy occurred in the early morning along a major highway. A car was going down an exit ramp. However it was going the wrong way down the ramp. The car collided with a tractor-trailer going the correct way on the ramp.

The car driver, a female, was injured in the crash. Her 35-year-old male passenger was killed in the accident. The driver of the tractor-trailer that was hit was not injured in the collision. There is currently an investigation into what exactly occurred and why the car was going the wrong way on the ramp.

If an investigation confirms that the wrong way driver was negligent in some way, there may be criminal charges filed. Despite the onset or likelihood of any criminal charges, the family of the man who died retains the right to file a wrongful death claim in a Missouri civil court against the driver deemed responsible for the car accident. If successful, a monetary judgment may be awarded to the family of the man who lost his life. This type of financial relief can help families deal with the inevitable expenses that typically arise in the aftermath of a fatal crash, such as funeral and burial costs as well as other monetary damages recognized under Missouri laws.
