Missouri hit-and-run accident leaves one injured, one deceased

Whenever people walk along the road or make their way across streets, they may do so with a certain amount of confidence in their safety. Most cars notice pedestrians in the road and proceed according to the safety of those pedestrians and other drivers. However, a recent hit-and-run accident in Missouri highlights just how dangerous crossing the street may be and how some drivers may not take the safety and well-being of pedestrians into consideration as they should.

The accident happened on a Sunday night as a man and woman were crossing the street together. A car came along and hit the pair. That car then reportedly left the scene of the accident.

The woman who was hit died at the scene of the accident. The man was rushed to a nearby medical facility and was said to be in critical condition. As of the last report, police were still trying to find out who the driver was and had no leads as to the whereabouts of the car involved. Investigators were also trying to work the scene of the accident to try to figure out what exactly happened.

Anytime there is a hit-and-run accident, authorities may set out to find the driver and possibly seek criminal charges. Once the driver who caused the hit and run accident is located, the victim who was hospitalized and the family of the victim who died may be able to pursue legal action in a Missouri civil court. A successful civil complaint of wrongful death or a personal injury claim can result in a monetary damages that may help those parties deal with the financial ramifications of the accident.
