Missouri car accident takes the lives of elderly couple

Whenever cars dart in and out of lanes or need to make quick maneuvers, there may be an increased chance of a traffic accident. Factors such as distracted driving, inattentiveness or other issues can make the need for quick or defensive maneuvers even more necessary. A recent car accident in Missouri highlights how dangerous it can be when a car has to swerve out of the way of another.

The accident occurred along a Missouri roadway. A 17-year-old was driving when it became necessary to swerve to avoid a possible collision with a car that was in the midst of turning left. As that driver swerved, the 17-year-old ended up in the path of another vehicle. A collision ensued.

The car that was hit contained an elderly married couple, both of whom were 84 years old. The couple died at the scene of the collision. The 17-year-old driver needed to be transported to a nearby medical facility for treatment of injuries. Crews were on the scene of the crash for some time afterward.

It is unclear if the driver who hit the Missouri couple will be ticketed or face any kind of citation. However, in a car accident where culpability is clear and someone acted recklessly or without regard to the safety and welfare of others on the road, there may be cause to seek civil action. A civil suit brought about by family members of those left behind after a fatal car accident can possibly help the family deal with the financial strain that a car accident may have caused. Some of the financial strain a fatal car accident can lead to includes lost wages, medical bills and funeral costs.
