Multi-vehicle car accident takes lives in Missouri

Whenever two vehicles collide, there is a chance of injury and damage. The incidence of injury and damage can increase dramatically in a multi-vehicle car accident. A recent Missouri crash that occurred in Newton County underscored just how deadly and dangerous these types of collisions can be. Tragically, several people lost their lives.

The accident occurred on a Saturday as one car was said to have crossed the center line. It then hit another car in the other lane head-on. It also struck a third vehicle.

The two people in the first car, ages 19 and 24, died. Two people in the second car -- a 57-year-old woman and a 55-year-old man -- were also killed. A person in the third car suffered injuries characterized as serious.

Whenever a car accident results in the death of the occupants in the car whose driver is presumed to have caused the crash, the official investigation may be more complicated. Nevertheless, if the preliminary indications are confirmed, it would appear that financial liability for the crash rests with the estate of the driver who initially crossed the center line. Since that driver perished in the collision, the surviving family members of the other deceased victims may opt to pursue damage claims that driver's estate, as well as against any separate owner of the vehicle he was driving. A successfully navigated claim for monetary damages could help the families contend with any financial ramifications of the Missouri car accident. The seriously injured victim from the third vehicle has a similar right to proceed with a claim for personal injuries against the same defendants.
