Missouri car accident takes 1 life, injures passenger

When a person has a passenger in his or her car, the life of that passenger essentially becomes the responsibility of the driver. Whenever there is a car accident that results in injury to a passenger, the family of that passenger or the passenger themselves may be able to pursue damages through the civil court system. In Missouri, a recent car accident left the passenger injured while the driver did not survive the incident.

The accident occurred on a Friday night. A 22-year-old was driving a car and she had a 19-year-old passenger inside with her. The car missed a turn in the road and left the roadway as a result. The car then hit a building, and the vehicle overturned as a result.

The driver was killed in the car accident. Her passenger needed to be airlifted to a nearby hospital for treatment of her injuries. She was described as being seriously injured in the crash. According to police, it is believed that the driver was driving too fast for the roadway and the curves that were part of the road in which she was traveling.

Even though the driver in this accident died as a result of the crash, the passenger who was seriously injured may have legal recourse to seek damages against the estate of that driver. Any time damages are sought in a Missouri civil court, a successful case can lead to a monetary settlement. Any monetary award handed down can help victims deal with the medical bills or other expenses they may have as a result of being in a car accident.
