Speeding car leads to car accident and injuries in Missouri

When all cars on the road are abiding by the rules of the road and complying with the directions of police or other authorities, there may be minimal chance of a car accident. Whenever a vehicle does not abide by those rules of the road, the risk of a car accident is greatly increased. A driver who reportedly did not comply with the police when police attempted to stop the vehicle is sadi to have caused a car accident in Missouri recently, injuring several.

The incident began as the police tried to stop an SUV that was reportedly running a red light and speeding. The police gave up trying to get the vehicle to stop, and the driver apparently continued along the road. The vehicle then crossed the center line at some point and hit another car head-on.

The driver and a passenger in the car that was hit were both injured. The driver was said to be in serious condition and the passenger was reported to be have critical injuries. Occupants of the SUV also had injuries as a result of the car crash. The driver was taken into custody by police as he was under suspicion of DWI.

While the man may face criminal charges related to the car accident, those injured in the car accident may have legal recourse through the Missouri civil court system. Those injured parties may be able to be awarded monetary damages if they are successfully able to prove culpability by the driver of the SUV. A successful civil litigation can result in an award of financial redress to help victims with medical bills or other damages related to the injuries suffered.
