Missouri car accident takes the lives of 4, others injured

Most roads have stretches of roadway that are designated for passing a vehicle. While this can be done safety in many instances, there are times when this kind of driving maneuver leads to a car accident. One car accident in Missouri recently took place as a car passed another vehicle, and the accident resulted in deaths and serious injuries.

The accident occurred as a 22-year-old woman was driving a car. She attempted to pass a tractor-trailer. As she did so, she hit another head-on. The driver of that vehicle was a 42-year-old man.

Both car drivers were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. One passenger with the 22-year-old driver was taken to a hospital for medical treatment but died of his injuries later. A 44-year-old woman in the car that was hit also died at the scene of the crash. There were also two minors in that vehicle, a 12-year-old and a 14-year-old. They were both seriously injured.

Whenever a driver is determined to have caused a car accident that resulted in the injury or death of others, that driver may be held liable for monetary damages in a Missouri civil court. When that driver has also died in the car crash, any victims left behind can still pursue damages against the estate of the deceased driver who is deemed to have caused the crash. Anyone who is injured in a car accident may find that a successful civil suit can help them achieve a monetary judgment that may prove necessary to deal with medical bills, lost wages and other losses related to being injured in a crash. Similarly, the surviving families of deceased victims have the right to pursue monetary claims by means of a wrongful death lawsuit.
