Police investigating deadly Missouri car accident

The scene of an accident can be confusing and troublesome for police to investigate and determine the course of events. When one car flees the scene of a car accident, it may become harder to determine what happened, and criminal charges may prove to be necessary. Police are searching for a driver who was involved in a recent Missouri car accident that left one man dead.

The accident happened around 4:40 a.m. It occurred when two cars collided into each other. One driver was thrown from the vehicle he was in, and then the car landed on top of him. He was transported to a medical facility. Unfortunately, the 65-year-old man did not survive the car accident.

The car that hit him, described as a Chevrolet Impala, left the scene of the crash. At some point later, the police found the car involved in the accident. Two men ran from the vehicle when police found it, and police are searching for that driver.

The driver who left the scene of the car accident may face criminal charges related to leaving the scene and possibly the death of the other driver. However, despite any possible criminal charges or the outcome of any investigation, the family of the driver who was killed has rights and may want to pursue those rights in a civil court. In a Missouri civil court, the family could present cause that the other driver was negligent and that recklessness caused the death of their loved one. If successful, the family may garner monetary damages that could prove useful as they face medical bills and funeral costs due to the loss of their loved one.
