Chain reaction car accident injures 3 in Missouri

Whenever anyone in a vehicle is stopped and waiting to turn onto another street or to go across an intersection, they may be a proverbial sitting duck. There simply is no way to tell if or when a vehicle can be rear-ended while in that vulnerable position and how many vehicles may inadvertently become involved. Recently in Missouri, a man and his wife found themselves injured in a car accident as they sat waiting for the opportunity to turn.

The incident took place just after noon on a Thursday. A 77-year-old woman and her 81-year-old husband were stopped and waiting to make a left-hand turn. A vehicle came along and hit a car behind them, which in turn hit another car behind the couple. In all, four vehicles were involved.

The two at the head of the chain reaction car accident both needed medical treatment. The wife was airlifted to a hospital, and the husband reportedly sought treatment on his own. A 43-year-old involved also needed medical treatment for injuries that were reported to be moderate.

Whenever a car accident involves a chain reaction crash of several vehicles, it may be difficult to decipher exactly what occurred and who may have been negligent. However, when the gathered evidence suggests some semblance of recklessness or negligence, those who are injured may have legal options through the filing of a civil complaint. In Missouri, those injured in a car accident may be able pursue damage claims in a civil court, damages that could prove essential in covering the cost of medical bills or lost wages.
