Teen passenger dies in Missouri car accident

There are many factors that can lead to a car accident. Road conditions, vehicle malfunction, weather conditions, the behavior of other drivers and driver error are just a few of the reasons a car accident may occur and leave drivers and passengers injured or worse. One recent car accident in Missouri left a teenager dead and several other people injured.

The accident occurred as a 16-year-old driver was behind the wheel. For a yet-to-be-determined reason, the car ran off the road and overturned after striking a fence. One teen was transported to the hospital but was pronounced dead not too long afterward.

As for the other occupants in the vehicle at the time of the car accident, a 16-year-old received injuries and was transported to a medical facility for treatment. A 22-year-old sustained serious injuries and was also transported from the scene. A 20-year-old was injured but declined medical treatment at the scene of the accident. The 16-year-old driver of the vehicle was apparently unscathed.

An investigation may reveal a reason for the car accident. The family of the 16-year-old who died in the crash, along with the injured victims, may have legal recourse to seek damages against the driver or the driver's family. Whenever a passenger is injured or killed in a Missouri car accident, the driver can be held responsible in a civil setting. If a civil court in Missouri decides to award damages to a passenger victim or that victim's family, those damages may help that victim or family deal with medical bills, lost wages and funeral costs.
