Missouri car accident leaves both drivers deceased

Anytime two cars are coming toward each other, there may be the risk of a collision. If one car is in the wrong lane and headed in the wrong direction, the risk of a crash involving serious injuries and/or fatalities is obviously greater. A recent wrong way car accident in Missouri ended with the loss of two lives as both drivers died as a result of the collision.

The crash took place early on a Sunday morning on Interstate 55. One driver, a 25-year-old woman was heading southbound. She was traveling in the northbound lanes. Her car hit another vehicle that was being driven by a 50-year-old driver. Neither car was carrying any passengers at the time of the accident.

The two drivers were rushed to a hospital only for both to be pronounced dead from their injuries. There is still an ongoing investigation concerning the car accident. There was no word yet as to why the one driver was headed the wrong way.

Whenever a family loses a loved one after a car accident, that family may have legal recourse to pursue damages if culpability by another party can be shown. In a case where a wrong way driver takes the life of another person and also dies as a result of the crash, the family may pursue damages in a Missouri civil court against the estate of the driver who is found to have caused the accident. These damages, if awarded, could help a family left behind contend with medical bills, the effects of lost wages and funeral costs.
