Missouri pedestrian dies after being struck in car accident

Crossing the road can be dangerous under any circumstances as pedestrians are essentially trusting drivers to be observant and cautious when they come upon them. When a car accident involves a pedestrian, the injuries sustained by that pedestrian are often severe, as pedestrians have no protection from the force of an impact, which is great, regardless of how fast a vehicle may be going. For one pedestrian in Missouri, a pedestrian versus car accident proved to be fatal.

The 15-year-old pedestrian was crossing an intersection in North City. He was doing so just after 5:30 a.m. As he crossed the road, he was hit by a car. The teen died as a result of the accident, although specifics about his injuries were not reported.

The driver of the car who hit the teen was a 23-year-old man. He was arrested at the scene of the accident. He was charged with driving while having a suspended license. It was also discovered that the man had an active warrant for his arrest.

Any kind of car accident that leads to the loss of life will be investigated in order for authorities to pinpoint any possible source of culpability or unlawful action that may have led to the accident. If, in this case, recklessness or negligence on the part of the driver is found to be a factor in the accident, the family of the teen who lost his life may have legal recourse through the civil court system in Missouri. A case of wrongful death may be warranted and, if successful, could result in a settlement that could help the family cope with the financial ramifications of the accident.
