Wrong way car accident takes a life in Missouri

Driving on the highways, particularly at night, is often a dangerous endeavor even when all parties around are alert and appear to be abiding by the rules of the road. Whenever a car is in the wrong lane for travel or is completely going the wrong way, the potential for a car accident is greatly increased. At night, the risk to others may be greater still. These unfortunate variables seemed to have been the cause of a car accident that recently took the life of a driver on a Missouri roadway.

The crash took place in the middle of the night. According to reports, a 52-year-old man was in control of a vehicle that was traveling north in the southbound lanes of the highway. He went across three lanes of the highway, and his vehicle then struck a car operated by a 26-year-old male.

The wrong way driver was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of injuries and thereafter underwent surgery. However, the other driver died as a result of the collision. Accounts of the accident note that the man driving the wrong way didn't have his headlights on either. The roadway was closed for several hours, pending the on-site investigation and cleanup of the accident debris.

A deadly wrong way car accident surely wreaks havoc on the lives of those who are left behind. For the family of the young man killed in this Missouri highway crash, there may be medical bills, funeral costs and the financial strain of lost wages with which to deal. A family in this position may be best served by looking into the possibility of filing a civil complaint against the driver who caused the accident base upon evidence of negligence that caused the death of an innocent victim.
