Car accident in Missouri proves deadly, leaves others injured

Passing others on the highway can lead to devastating injuries when an accident occurs, particularly when more than two vehicles are involved. All too frequently, a multi-vehicle car accident can lead to injuries and worse, as was the case recently on a Missouri roadway. A recent car accident took the life of a church van driver and left others with injuries.

The accident occurred on a Wednesday night as a man was driving and attempted to pass a vehicle. He hit that truck. He then hit a church van whose occupants were headed to a banquet. The van caught on fire as a result of the head on crash.

The 43-year-old driver of the church van died from injuries suffered in the car accident. Seven of the passengers in the van were injured, and four of those people needed to be flown to a medical facility. The driver of the car and driver of the truck he hit first both required medical treatment for injuries suffered.

The injured passengers in the van may be able to seek damages in a civil claim. In Missouri, car accident victims who suffer injuries as a result of someone else's negligence and/or recklessness can pursue a personal injury claim to seek an award of financial damages. As for the driver who lost his life in the accident, his family can pursue a wrongful death claim and possibly be in a position to secure a monetary judgment that may help them deal with the loss of its loved one. If successful in a Missouri court, damages won could prove beneficial to victims who have unexpected and significant medical expenses and other monetary damages. The family of the deceased driver may also have lost wages and funeral costs with which to contend.
