Missouri car accident leaves 1 driver dead, others injured

When vehicles approach one another on the roadway, each driver may need to be extra-aware of surroundings and any potential for a collision. Despite that awareness by many Missouri drivers, a car accident can still occur. A recent Missouri crash occurred as two cars were heading toward each other and collided after one vehicle crossed the center line.

The accident happened on a Saturday as a 36-year-old was driving a vehicle heading northbound. For some reason, the vehicle crossed the center line. It collided head-on with a southbound car operated by a 42-year-old man.

The driver of the southbound car died at the scene of the crash. A 36-year-old passenger in that vehicle was injured and air lifted to a trauma center in a nearby state. The northbound driver, also said to be 36, had moderate injuries, and she was also transported to a hospital.

Sadly, a head-on car accident can be fatal, as was the case with this collision. In these circumstances, the family of the victim may have legal recourse to seek a wrongful death claim against the driver believed to have caused the wreck and death that resulted. Similarly, other seriously injured victims have the right to pursue similar relief in the form of a personal injury claim. If successful in a Missouri civil court, a wrongful death or personal injury claim can lead to an award of monetary damages to address any resulting financial consequences. To prevail, it will be necessary to prove the party sued was negligent in a manner that caused the collision or materially contributed to it.
