Multiple vehicle car accident injures many on Missouri highway

Whenever one or two vehicles are involved in a car accident, the aftermath can be devastating for those involved. When a car accident ends up involving a multiple vehicle pile-up, the consequences can be even more destructive. One recent car accident in Missouri has garnered news as it morphed into a 30 vehicle wreck that injured many victims.

The accident occurred on a Saturday afternoon when a Greyhound bus was traveling on the interstate. It rear-ended a tractor-trailer. This led to a pile-up that involved dozens of cars on the interstate.

Eleven people on the bus needed medical attention. Numerous other injuries occurred involving victims from the other vehicles that became embroiled in the crash. These additional injuries required medical treatment also, although there wasn't specific information about the nature or severity of them The roadway was closed and crews were still working on the scene the next day, disrupting traffic and prompting authorities to ask motorists to avoid the area.

When there is a car accident of this nature, an investigation will focus on attempting to sort out exactly what happened. Once an investigation outlines the scenario or order of events, injured parties may seek to rely on that information to pursue claims for monetary damages. In Missouri, a personal injury lawsuit against a party who caused the crash may result in an award of damages that could offset the financial ramifications of being involved in a car accident, such as overwhelming medical bills, lost wages and pain and suffering relating to documented injuries.
