Multi-vehicle car accident leads to injuries in Missouri

When one driver isn't paying attention or is not fully in control of a vehicle, a crash can occur. The incident can easily lead to a multi-vehicle car accident where more injuries may be likely. A recent collision in Missouri led to multiple injuries.

The accident happened on a Friday afternoon on Interstate 44. A 29-year-old was headed west in a car. He came upon traffic that had slowed ahead of him. He wasn't able to stop, and this led him to hit the back of another car. That vehicle then hit the back of a tractor trailer.

The driver in the middle vehicle suffered serious injuries. There was no report as to any injuries suffered by the 49-year-old tractor-trailer driver. However, the driver who apparently caused the accident was checked over at the scene by emergency personnel. Reportedly, he declined to be taken to a medical facility for any kind of treatment.

The seriously injured driver in this car accident may have to endure an extensive and expensive period of recovery. Even though there was no mention of criminal charges in the initial aftermath of the tragedy, the driver who is said to have caused the car accident could face claims for financial accountability in a Missouri civil court if the accident victim wishes to pursue a personal injury lawsuit. If successful, that injured driver may be entitled to a judgment for monetary damages to pay medical bills, future rehabilitation costs and lost wages as he struggles to recover from his injuries.
