Several injured in Missouri highway car accident

Crossing the highway can be a dangerous maneuver for any driver. When there is failure to yield to highway traffic, a car accident can easily occur. A recent Missouri car accident appears to have occurred primarily due to failure to yield by one driver.

According to initial reports of the car accident, a 26-year-old woman was in the process of crossing the highway late on a late Sunday afternoon. She apparently failed to yield to traffic that was traveling on the highway from the opposite direction. This led to a collision.

A 6-year-old child was involved in the accident, although it is unclear in which vehicle she was riding. Three adults also suffered injuries. The child was transported to a medical facility, and one adult was taken to another. The two remaining adults were transported via helicopter for the injuries they suffered. As of the time the accident was reported, there was no specific word on the condition of any of the victims.

Once the car accident is investigated and authorities are able to pinpoint exactly what occurred, the injured parties may have legal recourse to pursue claims for damages. If they so choose, the injured parties may deem it appropriate to file a personal injury lawsuit in a Missouri civil court. This kind of case must be based upon evidence of negligence by another party that is found to have caused or substantially contributed to the accident and injuries that resulted. If presented successfully, a claim may result in a monetary judgment for damages sustained due to the car accident.
