Car accident injures passenger in Missouri

Regardless of the severity of injuries, anyone injured in a car accident may incur medical bills, lost wages or other monetary losses as he or she tries to recover afterwards. When a passenger is injured in a car accident, that passenger may be able to seek damages from the party responsible for the crash, whether that party is the driver of the car or a driver of another vehicle who is deemed culpable for the crash. In Missouri recently, a passenger was injured in a car accident when the car she was riding in was hit by another driver.

The accident occurred in the afternoon on a Missouri roadway. A car was in the process of turning right when it was rear-ended. The car that struck the turning vehicle was a Chevy Malibu driven by an 83-year-old man.

The passenger in the turning car was a 26-year-old woman, and her driver was 21 years old. The 26-year-old was taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries that were listed as minor. There was no word on whether either driver suffered injuries in the accident.

A minor injury that is treated at the hospital can lead to more extensive treatment over time or leave an injured party out of work or at the mercy of hospital bills he or she simply cannot pay. In a case such this Missouri car accident, the injured woman may be able to seek damages if her injury worsens or if she has to deal with medical bills or lost wages. A civil suit based on personal injury can be the only means for some car accident victims to receive the monetary damages they are due and will help keep them from suffering financially after being injured in an accident that was not their fault.
