Missouri car accident blamed on wrong-way driver

A driver traveling in the wrong direction on a roadway is a recipe for disaster and can easily lead to a car accident, especially when someone going the right way least expects it. Wrong-way driving appears to be the reason behind a recent car accident that took place on a Missouri roadway. The car accident occurred in the early morning hours in early June and is currently still under investigation by authorities.

The accident happened on a stretch of Interstate 470 outside of Lee's Summit. According to the report, a driver was driving north in the lanes designated for southbound traffic. This led to a collision with a pickup truck that was traveling south in the southbound lanes.

According to a witness's report, the wrong-way driver was driving slowly and came close to hitting a semi truck on the road before it collided with the pickup truck. Two people suffered minor injuries in the collision. There is an investigation into what happened, and the county sheriff's office is assisting with that investigation.

Whenever injuries occur in a car accident that are the result of a driver having acted negligently, carelessly or recklessly, injured parties may choose to file civil actions against the party who caused the wreck. In a Missouri civil court, accident injury victims can pursue monetary damages. If successful, those damages may prove beneficial as a means of dealing with medical bills, lost wages or other expenses incurred as a result of being a victim of a car accident.
