Missouri car accident takes life of teenager

Any kind of collision can lead to serious injuries, but a collision between a smaller car and large truck can be deadly due to the difference in size of the vehicles. Tragedy struck recently in Missouri as a car and truck collided on the roadway. The car accident left a mother injured and a teenage girl dead.

The accident took place in the early morning hours as a mom was driving on a highway. She turned to enter another road. Her car was then hit by a dump truck.

According to police, the 36-year-old mother was seriously injured in the crash. A 14-year-old brother to the teenage girl was not injured. The dump truck driver was also uninjured in the collision. The teenager who died was 15 years old.

Police will surely investigate the car accident in order to determine exactly what occurred, though the initial report was unclear about whether one or both drivers may have been at fault. If the evidence suggests that the driver of the dump truck acted negligently, that driver may face a civil lawsuit in a Missouri court. When a truck driver causes an accident while working, the employer may be added as a defendant in any civil claim stemming from the incident. In those circumstances, the negligence of an employee is typically attributed to the employer as well under applicable law. If the family in this car accident successfully pursues a wrongful death suit, that suit could result in monetary damages that could help the family deal with funeral costs and other financial damages related to the car accident.
