Car accident in Missouri caused by failure to stop

When a car fails to yield, an ensuing accident can become deadly and injure innocent people. One recent car accident in Missouri was caused by a driver's failure to yield at a stop sign. The accident led to one death and injuries for others.

The accident happened as a 62-year-old driver did not yield, and his vehicle was hit by another one. This caused his vehicle to overturn. The man was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

The driver of the other car suffered injuries that were reported to be moderate, but there were no specifics as to the nature of those injuries. There were four passengers in that vehicle when it hit the other car. One passenger suffered serious injuries and was transported to a medical facility for treatment. The other three passengers had what were described as minor injuries.

Even though the driver who is preliminarily believed to have caused this car accident died in the crash, those who were injured may have legal recourse to file a personal injury lawsuit in a Missouri civil court. A personal injury suit against the estate of the deceased driver, based upon evidence of his negligence, may result in the entry of a judgment for monetary damages. If another individual had an ownership interest in the vehicle operated by the now deceased man, he or she may be added as a defendant in any related civil litigation. Any amount recovered could help the injured parties pay for medical treatment, cover the cost of lost wages and provide restitution for other monetary losses resulting from the car accident.
