Head-on car accident takes life of woman in Missouri

Curves are dangerous spots on any roadway, day or night. If an oncoming vehicle does not properly negotiate a curve on a Missouri roadway, anyone coming toward that vehicle may be put at risk of becoming involved in a car accident. This kind of unexpected head-on car accident can prove to be deadly, as was the case recently for a Missouri woman.

The accident happened around 7 p.m. as a woman and her husband were headed southbound on U.S. Highway 65 in Livingston County. The driver of a northbound vehicle failed to properly negotiate a curve. This led to a collision that took the life of the 55-year-old woman in the southbound car.

The woman's husband was transported by life flight from the scene to a hospital for treatment of his injuries, which were not specified. His injuries were reported to be serious in nature. There was no word on the condition of the driver believed to have been at fault for the crash.

The husband is likely entitled to pursue a personal injury lawsuit against the driver whose vehicle hit his car. He also may have the right to pursue a wrongful death suit in a Missouri civil court because of the death of his wife. Either suit, if successful, can help the injured man as he contends with the financial consequences of being involved in such a devastating car accident. A successful personal injury suit or wrongful death suit can result in the entry of a judgment for monetary damages as allowed under applicable laws.
