Hit-and-run accident leads to pedestrian death, others injured

A chain reaction accident situation has led to the death of one and injuries for a few others. It all started with a hit-and-run accident in the middle of the night. The aftermath of what occurred on the Missouri roadway led to injuries for others as they stopped to help the man who was initially hit and left on the roadway.

The incident started as a 23-year-old man made his way down the street. A vehicle came upon him and struck him. That vehicle then left the scene of the accident. Another vehicle came along and the 30-year-old driver of that car ran over the pedestrian who was struck. He suffered fatal injuries as a result, although it is not clear which accident caused his fatality.

After that vehicle stopped, it was then struck from behind by a 34-year-old driver. That crash then caused the second car to rear-end yet another vehicle. Then, a 19-year-old driver pulled over on the side of the road to help the pedestrian and her vehicle was sideswiped by another vehicle. In all, four of those who stopped or were hit needed to be transported to the hospital for treatment.

An investigation may reveal more about how exactly the pedestrian died in this hit-and-run accident and find the party who was responsible. The family of the deceased pedestrian may be able to then pursue a wrongful death suit in a Missouri civil court once culpability can be established or the hit-and-run accident driver is located. The parties who were injured as they stopped to assist and those who were injured by the collision of other vehicles may also be able to pursue personal injury suits once liability is established.
