Missouri man dies after being struck in car accident

When walking along the roadway, the unpredictability of the actions of drivers passing by can be nerve-wracking for pedestrians. However, when drivers are operating a car safely, pedestrians should be able to safely navigate the shoulder of roadways without fear of bodily injury or death. Unfortunately, this was not the case recently as a Missouri man was the victim of a car accident as he made his way down the road.

The man was 23 years old. He was along the shoulder of the interstate on a Saturday morning. A car came along and drove off the edge and struck the pedestrian.

The man died at the scene from injuries he sustained in the accident. It was unclear exactly what injuries he sustained. It was also unclear why exactly the driver left the roadway at that point.

In most car accident situations involving pedestrians, an investigation may be conducted to pinpoint culpability and decide if there are to be criminal charges or citations handed down to a responsible party. Despite the outcome of any criminal charges or citations, a victim of a car accident or the family of a victim who lost his or her life can pursue damages through a Missouri civil court if they so choose. For passengers, other drivers or pedestrians, the pursuit of a personal injury suit or a wrongful death suit filed by surviving family members may be the best step toward securing compensation to pay for the cost of medical treatment, lost wages or other monetary losses related to a car accident caused by recklessness, carelessness or negligence.
