Wrong way car accident kills two on Christmas, injures others

An early morning drive on Christmas has ended in tragedy, and the actions of one driver may be to blame. One vehicle was traveling on Interstate 70 in Missouri when a vehicle coming the wrong way caused the car accident. Both drivers died as a result of the tragic crash, which occurred in St. Louis close to the Bermuda Drive exit.

The collision occurred about 5 a.m. The wrong-way driver was operating a Chevy Trailblazer. That vehicle collided with an oncoming Toyota SUV in which there were 5 people.

After the crash, four of the people in the Toyota were transported to the hospital. Among the injured was a 1-year-old girl who needed treatment for minor injuries. Both of the drivers involved died at the scene of the crash. The driver of the Toyota was a 65-year-old man.

A tragic car accident such as this can cause a family and injured parties to suffer from financial chaos and strain due to the high costs of medical treatment, on-going rehabilitative needs and wages lost due to medical treatment and injury recover time. The injured victims are entitled to seek compensation in a Missouri civil court. The family of the man who lost his life in this head-on accident may also pursue claims for damages through the filing of a wrongful death lawsuit. A successfully presented claim may result in the entry of a monetary judgment to help that family deal with medical bills, lost wages and the cost of a funeral for their loved one, among other documented financial losses.
