Teenager dies and others injured in Missouri car accident

A Sunday afternoon car crash turned tragic for several vehicle occupants. Among the four injured parties in the car accident were a teenage girl and a baby boy. The accident happened on a highway intersection in Missouri.

The unfortunate series of events happened when a Dodge Avenger was heading north on the Missouri roadway. The driver was a 32-year-old woman, and she had a baby boy in the vehicle with her. She failed to yield, according to reports. The Avenger then went into the path of another vehicle, causing a collision.

Both of the vehicles came to a rest in the median after the collision. The woman driving the Avenger was transported for medical care and said to be in serious condition, while the baby suffered minor injuries. However, two occupants in the other car were injured, and tragically, a 14-year-old girl in that vehicle died from injuries she sustained.

Once an investigation is complete, the driver who reportedly failed to yield may be held accountable for any liability in the car accident. While there is no immediate mention of any criminal charges or traffic citations, the family of the teenager who lost her life may consider pursuing a wrongful death suit in a civil court. In cases such as this where a victim loses her or his life as the result of someone else's negligence, a wrongful death suit is a means of pursing damages in a civil court, and these damages may help families handle the financial devastation that could result in addition to the emotional distress they are sure to endure.
